When customers are interested in a leather sofa here at
D SCALE - they usually inquire about maintenance and care for the leather. Leather is definitely a more forgiving and resilient material in comparison to a lot of fabrics so I usually offer addressing a spill or stain immediately by patting it with warm water and a clean cloth. I confess that before this past weekend I had absolutely no experience in cleaning up a spill or stain on leather - so my advice was based on what my mom always told me or reading the little booklet that comes with the leather sofas. However, having had the unfortunate experience of spilling a glass of red wine on a white leather sofa recently I can now say with confidence - address the spill immediately - use a soft clean cloth with a warm water - which is not going to be enough - so start with a little mild, moisturizing soap like Dove hand soap and pat and rub the stain. If your like me and still panicking because it's not working add a little more soap and rub harder - eventually - thankfully - it will come out. If for some unfortunate reason it doesn't call or email Rosie at D SCALE for a list of excellent treatment specialists and leather repairers - more on that later...
